Using the best available science combined with a warm, friendly approach, I provide a safe, supportive space with warmth, understanding, encouragement, and gentle challenging to facilitate your growth. I will tailor evidence-based treatment to your unique needs so you can thrive in the life you want. Together, we will explore the origins of your patterns of thinking as well as the functions that these patterns serve, gain insight into your barriers to change, identify your strengths and practice new habits in order to help you live a healthy satisfying life.
Through the therapeutic relationship, building on your natural strengths and leaning on the latest research, together we will find the healing and quality of life you deserve. Research demonstrates even those who have experienced unimaginable loss and trauma can experience post-traumatic growth - that is they can actually function better than before the trauma. I believe in the power of resilience in the human spirit because I see it every day on my work with people.
I bring a wide breadth of clinical experience to my practice including work in adoptions, child abuse, parenting training, hospice, home health care, chronic illness, in-clinic work with children, youth and families, community work, and in-home family therapy. I have also been a school social worker in elementary, middle and high schools doing individual and group work.
Over the years, I have taught clinical social work in a variety of settings including partnering with University of Southern California, San Diego State University, California State University San Marcos and the Southern California Public Child Welfare Training Academy. I am available to provide clinical supervision for professionals.
Depression and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Using a combination of CBT, DBT, Attachment Theory and a trauma informed framework, I am able to help you recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life.
